Safe Standing – The Silent Movie

Getting the message over with humour! That’s the aim of the latest element of the national safe standing campaign, with a unique ‘silent movie’ released today on YouTube.

Starring Peterborough United mascot, the giant rabbit ‘Peter Burrow’ (who was flown out to Hannover for filming on location at PUFC’s expense), the video encapsulates with a wry smile the idiocy of the current situation: fans standing in all-seater stadia at risk of falling into the row in front, sometimes obstructing seated supporters behind and often ending up in arguments with stewards, while also showing how simple it would be to provide a solution to all these problems: by giving fans who want to stand a designated safe standing area fitted with rail seats.

The release of the video comes on the day that Peterborough CEO Bob Symns has offered London Road as a potential trial site for rail seats, so keen is he not to lose standing at the ground – a feature that helped make it the most popular destination for away fans anywhere in the Football League last season.

Enjoy the video, please share it and please ask everyone who sees it to do as requested at the end and sign the Football Supporters’ Federation’s safe standing petition.
