Saints Cup Winners’ Medal For Auction

Mel Blyth played for Saints from 1974 to 1977 and was a part of the successful Southampton FA Cup winning team of 1976.

Mel never saw the riches that today’s players receive and is hoping to gain a little nest egg for his kids by selling his 1976 cup winner’s medal..

The last medal sold this way was that which Peter Rodrigues had won. His daughter elected to raise some cash this way, much against her father’s wishes.

The medal fetched £10,200 but luckily for Peter it was bought by ex chairman Peter Lowe who returned the medal to it’s rightful owner. In turn Peter then gave it to the club. It has rarely been seen by fans as it has sat in the club’s reception.

Blyth is hoping that a true Saints fan will come forward to buy it and is therefore hoping to sell it directly to that supporter rather than put it up at auction where he will have no control over who buys it, he is therefore asking interested parties to contact him directly on 07950 796547.

If you are a collector of Saints memorabilia this is an offer too good to miss I would suspect.
