Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has rubbished media speculation linking his side with a move for Roma star Pablo Osvaldo.

The media has been full of rumours suggesting Saints have been trying to tempt Roma to sell Pablo Osvaldo to us. With news of our interest bringing some mixed reactions from onlookers.

Argentina-born striker Osvaldo has been linked with a move to the south-coast club in recent days, but the Saints boss is adamant that his side haven’t made a move to sign the striker, who has had another successful season in Serie A last year.

In an interview with tuttomercatoweb.com, Saints boss Pochettino confirmed his side haven’t submitted a bid for the striker.

‘Osvaldo is a great player,’ Pochettino admitted. ‘I worked with him at Espanyol, so I know what he can do.

‘We are aware of his situation at Roma, but haven’t made an offer. We have a clear idea of what our targets should be but the market is moving very slowly at the moment. We are working prudently to reinforce the squad.’

Maybe people should bide their time before shooting from the hip as rumours abound and mostly without substance.
