St.Marys has been chosen to host the Clash between England Under 21’s and The Irish Under 21’s on the 5th of February 2008.

The 32,619 all seater could sell out for this huge clash for Stuart Pearces Under 21’s side. They sit pretty at the top of there table, winning game except one which was a well deserved point away to Portugal.

Stuart Pearce was delighted that St.Marys was chosen as the venue for the big clash, he told the Southampton Official website: ‘St.Mary’s is a fantastic stadium and the support of a big passionate crowd will be a huge boost for the players.’

This is the third England event, St.Marys hosted England Vs Macedonia, a Euro 2004 qualifier, which ended in a shocking 2-2 draw, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard were on target for the Lions. In 2006 The England womens team came to Southampton and beat Hungary 2-0. Now St.Mary’s has the chance to prove it’s beauty and abillity to host big events.

Current Saint Drew Surman could feature as well as ex saints Dexter Blackstock and Theo Walcott.
