Saints are keen on signing French left back Yohan Lachor from Lens, after the 30-year-old had a successful trial at St Mary’s.

Lachor has seen his first team opportunities limited at Lens since the recent arrival of highly rated Uruguayan defender Guillermo Rodriguez, and he’s been trying to earn a deal in England.

He recently had a trial at Newcastle and was close to signing for Birmingham last year.

Saints are in need of a new left back and Lachor is a very experienced player who’s played at the highest level. He’s regularly played Champions League and UEFA cup football for Len’s and should bring some much needed calmness and stability to the defence.

He can also take an excellent free kick and Saints have been very short of free kick specialists.

Saints certainly need some fresh players and Lachor seems a good start. If he signs his experience and quality would bring some much needed leadership to the side.
