Southampton youngster Jake Hesketh swapped Burton Albion and the Pirelli Stadium for MK Dons and Stadium: MK during the January transfer window in a move that did perplex a number of fans given how he took to life at League One Level.

Dropping into League Two as Burton boss Nigel Clough confirmed it was about money, the 22-year-old was making his first start for the club after making his debut against Exeter City as a substitute, and although MK Dons lost the game, Hesketh did register his first goal for them.

His effort did draw them level for a period in the game and it was a stunning long range striker, so although they dropped out of the Play-Off zone with the result, Hesketh can be pleased with how he’s made the adjustment to his new side.

A cracking effort and given how quickly he won Burton fans over, it looks like he’s already begun doing the same. With three efforts in 23 games in the first half of the year, he’ll be looking to better that before the end of the season.
