Southampton take on Micky Adams Coventry at St Mary’s this weekend, looking to build on the excellent win against Sheffield Wednesday last week.

Another victory this weekend would take Saints to 43 points, just 5 points short of Burley’s points target of 48, with 10 games still to play.

The Head Coach is under no illusion that it’ll be easy on Saturday as The Sky Blues are an in form team pushing for a play off place.

Burley on Coventry:

‘They are on a very good run and will be tough to beat. They are not that far away from the play-offs and will not have given up on that just yet’

‘They have some very experienced players throughout the squad but it is that type of league’

‘It is a case of getting the right balance and Micky Adams has done very well. He found it tough early on but he is getting a good squad together and they are doing well.’

Saints Team News:

Matt oakley is a doubt with an ankle injured which forced him off against The Owls last week.

Djamel Belmadi and Martin Cranie will both miss out after picking up injuries during a reserve match in midweek.

Loan signing Kevin Miller will be on the bench as cover for Paul Smith as Bialkowski requires surgery and is out for the remainder of the season.

Player to watch: Andrew Surman

19-year-old Bitterne boy Surman has really developed under George Burley, putting in a string of good performances since breaking into the first team five games ago. The young attacking midfielder looks more threatening with every match.

Coventry Team News:

Coventry are missing influential striker Gary McSheffrey through suspension.

Defender Robert Page faces a late fitness test on a groin strain. The Sky Blues defence is boosted by Ady Williams return from a one match ban.

Player to watch: Dennis Wise

No doubt Wisey will be eager to impress against us and the veteran midfielder has been in excellent form since his move to Coventry, scoring 5 in 6 appearances.
