Southampton didn’t manage to pick up the victory that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl would’ve liked as we made the trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley last Saturday, but there were positives he could once again take.
After a goalless first, Nathan Redmond’s step up in form of late continued as he opened the scoring in the 55th minute but the hosts (who did edge the game on stats) levelled from the penalty spot four minutes into stoppage-time.
It as a cruel way to lose the victory on the day, but few could argue Burnley didn’t deserve a point.
Statistics website Whoscored were pretty favourable in their player ratings, but 24-year-old Redmond stole the show and their star man rating with a score of 8.33.
Completing the top five performers in their system were Oriol Romeu (7.45), Jannik Vestergaard (7.31), Jan Bednarek (7.29) and James Ward-Prowse (7.16).
Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy also received a seven-plus rating for his efforts on the day as well.
Onto Saturday’s clash with Cardiff City at St Mary’s now.
