Saints Need A Lambert Replacement?

Has Nigel Adkins got a replacement lined up for next month? Rickie has simply not been at the races this season and still nearly halfway through it has but the one goal from open play.

They say he only needs to score to start a run of games where he scores, but how much longer can we afford to give him?

With Lee Barnard out injured, and David Connolly seemingly out more often than he is available, the question is who can take his place?

Rumours about a refusal to let him go plus the possible trouble within the camp while Pardew was still here do little to stem the flow of unnecessary gossip and whispers.

Personally I feel we have depended on Rickie far too much and we have played him when not fully fit.

The alternatives to the afore mentioned players are few and inexperienced. Guly is not a target man and Ryan Doble has not yet got the experience.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a great start to his career but he is not the finished article and is not a target man either.

The more I think about the position the more I feel the need to find a striker that will be able to finish off some of the glorious chances we make.

Maybe a rest will do Lambert good and then we will have more competition for places. Either that or we need a player like Doble or Dean to step up to the plate and do the business for us.
