After a week of intense voting the Vital Southampton Player Of The Month has been announced:

Chris Baird

A resounding victory for stand in Captain Baird who finished with an astounding 59% of the vote. Baird has turned in some excellent performances over the past month. He did a fantastic job on WBA danger man John Hartson and also did well to contain Preston live wire David Nugent. A thoroughly deserved victory for Chris.

Finishing in second and third place we have Rudi Skacel and John Viafara both players have impressed over the last month.

Skacel has looked dangerous on the left hand side and recently opened his goal scoring account for Saints with a thunderous drive against Yeovil Town.

John Viafara looks to have adapted well to life in the Championship since joining from neighbours Portsmouth. His powerful forward runs and defensive ability have clearly impressed readers of Vital Southampton.

Be sure to Vote in our new poll ‘Is Idiakez The Creative Edge Saints Need?’

  • So you’re pleasantly surprised with Viafara then?
Told you he’s pretty good, but has his distribution improved?

  • Viafara is a great player. He just never quite fit in to Pompeys plans. I saw him out in Pompey last weekend. He has got the biggest Affro you have ever seen. Dude is Disco personified.
