Southampton Football Club have released the following statement:

SOUTHAMPTON LEISURE HOLDINGS Plc

CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT

The resignation of Mr Michael Wilde is effective from today.

Fortunately, the position he has vacated is non-executive and predominantly ambassadorial in nature. His resignation as Chairman of the Football Club therefore has no effect on the day-to-day operations of the Company which are directed and managed by Chief Executive, Jim Hone, and Football Manager, George Burley.

Jim and George and their respective teams are performing well and the Board is confident that the resignation of Michael will not deflect them from their aims and objectives and the opportunities that lie within their grasp both on and off the field of play between now and the end of the season.

One of many positive legacies that Michael Wilde left the Company following his brief term in office is a highly effective organisation structure and executive team well placed to deliver sustainable football and business success. He is to be congratulated for bringing together such a talented group of individuals with a tremendous sense of purpose and a clear strategy that everyone with the best interests of Southampton Football Club at heart can understand and support.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Michael for his role in bringing about long-overdue changes at Board level last summer and for his subsequent contribution to the Football Club and the Company as a whole. We wish him every success in his future endeavours.

The Board will meet in early course to determine who, if anyone will succeed Michael as non-executive Chairman.

K. P. Dulieu

Chairman of Southampton Leisure Holdings Plc
