Saints have signed West Brom’s Richard Chaplow on a 3 month loan deal, though The Baggies have the chance to recall the midfielder after 28 days.
Bryan Robson believes Chaplow needs some first team experience to develop into a better player:
‘Chappy hasn’t really got the experience at the moment for me to play him in Premiership games. But I do think he is going to develop into a very good player.
‘Going to Southampton and playing first-team football is part of his development. Hopefully, he’ll come back a better player.’
Robson signed the England Under 21’s international from Burnley last season for £1.5 million.
Sainst looked very weak in midfield against Derby on Saturday and the arrival of Chaplow should add some vital strength and competition for places.
