Southampton’s Premier League season continued with a two-nil defeat against Tottenham at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, which makes it six without a win for the Saints and heading (slightly) worryingly the wrong way!

Five-minutes before half time Harry Kane, on his 100th Tottenham appearance for what was his 10th-goal in as many games (and 47-goals for Spurs in total), got in to put the visitors ahead with that lead doubled by his England teammate Dele Alli to seal the points before the break.

Sub James Ward-Prowse had the best chance for Southampton but Hugo Lloris saved well, the game was already lost though.

These were the other results.

Chelsea quite possibly, some would say probably, would have beaten Sunderland as they did anyway with the post-Jose Mourinho era beginning with a three-one win for the Champions at Stamford Bridge but it’s Leicester, who beating the Blues that ended his second spell, that will be top at Christmas after a three-two win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth did Man United the week before and this time round they won again with a two-one win at West Brom, the ‘surprise’ defeat United suffered at Bournemouth last Saturday was most definitely bettered by Norwich’s shocking of the Red Devils at Old Trafford with the Canaries going away with a two-one win!
