Saints have now confirmed their home pre-season friendly for the
Ted Bates Trophy will be against Greek side Panathinaikos at St Mary’s on Saturday July 29, kick-off 3pm.

Ticket prices will be slashed for the fixture with adults having to pay just £10, teens and seniors £5 and children aged 12 and under £1.

The clash is being played as part of the deal which saw Saints midfielder Mikael Nilsson move to Greece just under a year ago.

Saints shared the inaugural award with Bayern Munich and then retained it by beating Italian outfit Chievo 3-1 and Belgian side Anderlecht 3-2.

The July encounter will give George Burley’s side a tough finish to their warm-up campaign which will see them play two games in Sweden before returning to take on Bristol City on July 25 and Cheltenham Town on July 27.

  • should be a good match, chance to see some good players. proberly get a big crowd

  • And lets be honest, the only way St Marys will see some good players, or get a crowd nowadays, is by getting a decent team to play there. after all there aint no talent left in the saints squad. Sir Woopert took care of that.

  • Nice, great fixture for the Saints! How about predictions then? I reckon 2-0 to the Greeks!
