The unit in the Southampton General Hospital is rated the second highest performing of eleven such centres throughout the country.

In a bid to help the cause the club will be highlighting the fight for the unit’s survival.

At the stadium for the match against Bristol Rovers there will be Parents, Patients and Hospital Staff all asking for our fans to add their names to the growing list of names on the petition being organised on behalf of the unit.

There are currently more than 10,000 patients with congenital heart disease either directly under review in Southampton or see in partnership with the south of England referring network. During 2010 Southampton performed 404 congenital heart surgery procedures and 338 of these were in children aged 16 or under.

The consultation period runs until 1st July 2011 with the petition being hand delivered to 10 Downing Street. For more information on the review or how you can get involved, please visit www.oceanward.co.uk or to offer your support online visit www.ipetition.com/petition/wchcsaveoceanward
