The League one ‘Team of the Year’ has been selected. It has three Southampton players in it and three Norwich. Not wishing to sound biased but, why does the Sporting Life.com have a headline Canaries Trio In Team Of The Year.

Kelvin Davis (Southampton) has been a major player for the Saints this season. Since staying on the south coast after turning down a move to West Ham Davis has turned in several match winning performances between the sticks.

Jason Puncheon started the season on loan at MK Dons. This tricky attacking midfielder was soon spotted by Saints and was signed in the January transfer window from Plymouth Argyle. He has quickly become a favourite at St Mary’s.

Rickie Lambert (Southampton) was signed from Bristol Rovers and has been a revelation. It is not just his 30 plus goals that make him so valuable. His all round game has been a big bonus and boss Alan Pardew rates him as the best forward in the league.

Norwich also had three players in the team.Gary Doherty, Wes Hoolahan and Grant Holt.
Doherty has used his experience to boost the team while Hoolahan has caused problems in midfield to many teams. Holt has an awkward big striker mode of play which has worked at this level.

Charlton have two players in the team. Frazer Richardson has done well since leaving Leeds and Nicky Bailey had a good year in midfield.

Leeds also had two players in the team. Patrick Kisnorbo who had a serious achilles tendon injury has probably been the best defender by far this season. Robert Snodgrass is another attacking midfielder who has done really well this season.

Ian Harte (Carlisle) is another experienced defender nearing the end of his career that has done very well. Harte is nearing the 20 goal mark for the season which for a defender is quite remarkable.

All in all it is a team that would be favourites to beat any of the teams in the league if they were to ever play.
