Fulham won this game with something in hand at Motspur Park in the third game of the newly formed Elite group. Saints had a couple of good chances with Gboly Ariyibi and Sam Gallagher failing to find the target.

Just after the half hour mark Patrick Roberts steered home the opener after unselfish approach play from Swedish striker Tankovic. Tankovic then doubled the hosts` lead, starting and finishing a clinical counter-attack from a Saints corner, in another eye-catching display.

Saints were stunned but hit back just before the break when Jason McCarthy headed home a Tom Leggett cross to give Saints a platform to launch a comeback in the second period.

The it look like the game was one sided but it flattered Fulham18’s came out and forced Fulham back for long periods in the second half before falling to a sucker punch. They conceded a penalty in the 76th minute which Chris Johns could do nothing about, before the home side struck in the third and fifth minutes of stoppage time to rub salt into the wound.

A disappointing result and a scoreline that made it look as though Fulham dominated where as they were certainly not that superior.
