Image for Saints v Cherries

This is a game that a lot of fans have earmarked as a must watch for a long timwe. The last time that the two sides met in earnest was way back in 1987. The saints drawing 2-2 at home after losing 1-0 at Dean Court thus losing 3-2 on aggregate in the League Cup. This is also in the cup and I am hoping that we do a bit better this time.

Vital Quotes:

Southampton Team News:

We still have doubts over Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana though both are nearing a return to full fitness. Frazer Richardson and Oscar Gobern are bouth definitely out.

Player to watch: Lee Barnard

Lee Barnard will be hoping to get more chances in this game and could prove a danger. If He gats a game then Bialkowski would be someone to watch.

Bournemouth Team News:

Harry Arter may be available though withdrawn at half-time against Charlton.Michael Symes may again have to settle for a place on the bench as he recovers from a groin strain.

Player to watch: Brett Pitman

Brett Pitman could be a lethal threat with his shooting boots on as he is more than capable of doing a Lambert and scoring from distance.

Head to Head

Saints are unbeaten at home by Bournemouth. Winning 5 and drawing 4 of the nine matches played. That said we have not yet managed to win a cup game against the Cherries at home.
