Saints Will Be Derided By Many

How can anybody that purports to always release news about the club after decisions have been made, and the deed has been done, allow our former manager to learn his fate that way?

The fact that Nigel Adkins may have known or suspected that it could have been coming at any time for a few weeks, is no excuse. The simple fact is that it is still a terrible way to find out.

Nigel has always appeared to be an honorable man and one that has done an exceptional job for his employers. He was liked by his players and the fans loved him.

I am sorry and slightly embaressed right now with the manner of our Nigel’s dismissal. It could and should have been done in a much less surgical style.

If as has been suggested Nicola Cortese wanted a more experienced manager, why on earth did he go for one with a good deal less? Not just that but one that did not have particularly high qualifications.

It has been said that serious negotiations with Pochettino were underway before Southampton`s draw at Chelsea. That he was waiting in the wings as he had already been offered the job by then. Whether true or not it certainly looks that way.

Only time will tell whether this move will prove to be successful, but it will not remove the bad taste that is left by the show of contempt illustrated by our club chairman.

As for Nigel. His future will hopefully be good. In fact rumours abound that Blackpool are interested in talking to him about their managerial position.
One thing I feel is that whenever Nigel visit’s St Mary’s with another club he will receive a warm welcome.
