Southampton’s opening game of the season sees Millwall travel to St. Mary’s on August 8.

Last year`s play-off finalists will prove a difficult test for Mark Wotte’s men on the opening day.

Following the Lions fixture, the Saints stay at St. Mary’s just four days later for the visit of Northampton Town for the Carling Cup first round.

The remaining August fixtures see Wotte’s men travel away from the south coast, visiting Huddersfield Town and Swindon Town, which are vital fixtures to move away from that minus 10 point start.

Fans will be at home this boxing day as Exeter City make one of their shorter travels to come to St. Mary’s.

The first fixture of 2010 is at Griffin Park where Saints face Brentford on January 2.

Southampton finish their first League One season at home to Southend on May 8, this was the same fixture when the Saints secured the play-off’s in the 2006-07 season.
