Southampton have announced that 10,800 tickets were sold during the ‘March Madness’ period.

With big reductions in some areas, which were aimed at bringing in new season ticket holders, the figures are not too impressive when you consider that only 1,000 tickets are actually new season ticket holders, with the remaining 9,800 being renewals from this seasons 12,000.

Unfortunately the dip in prices coincided with the teams dip in form, which probably affected sales. If there had been a feel good feeling around the ground i`m sure more tickets would have been sold.

However, the ticket office seem pleased enough telling the Echo: ‘It’s just superb and a testament to the sensible pricing the management have put in place and the wonderful fans we have at Saints.

‘These numbers give us a base to build on with the Early Bird period running until the end of May. To start that period with nearly 11,000 in the bag is absolutely fantastic and shows the commitment of such a dedicated number of supporters.’
