Midfielder Steven Davis has agreed with the gaffer that the first half showing wasn’t quite what we can expect, but the second half was definitely ‘more like us’.

Speaking to saintsfc following the one all draw, the Northern Ireland international said he was pleased to see how we battled back in the game to take a share of the points and he felt we thoroughly deserved it given our overall showing in the final 45 minutes.

‘We knew it was going to be a difficult game for us as obviously Newcastle are high on confidence. First half we played a bit too rigid in terms of movement off the ball, and obviously the manager made a couple of decisions at half time. The two lads who came on affected the game and the second half was a bit more like us. The game opened up a little bit as well, which probably worked to our advantage.’

Davis goes on to say that players always feel disappointed when they don’t take all three points, but he knows following those 90 minutes Newcastle will share those feelings, so a draw was probably right and he’ll personal take some pleasure in having laid on the assist for Jay Rodriguez’s equaliser.

The end result is it’s another point, we are back to back unbeaten again, so there are a lot of positives that can be taken from the game and that’s what the camp will be taking forward as we look to improve our form even further and put those three defeats long behind us.
