The Saints announced on Thursday that for they had secured a deal with Unibet to become the clubs betting sponsor for the season, a decision that was met with harsh criticism from fans as they took to social media to criticise the south coast side.

Shame on you and all clubs that take money from gambling companies.

Echo everyone else, betting is a partner we don't need. Couldn't care less how much money they give, it's because they make so much money from misery.

Your Saints Foundation does wonderful work and then you go and ruin it with a betting sponsor.

You shouldn’t be pleased. There is absolutely no need for such a thing.

We don't need a betting partner as betting is nothing but a cancer in football #BanBettingFootballSponsors
