One of the later deadline day departures from Southampton was Academy graduate Harrison Reed, as he made the loan switch out to relegated Championship side Fulham for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
Southampton Academy Graduate Heads Out On Loan Again But Should Impress
The 24-year-old has now had numerous loan spells away from the club to aid in his development, and Fulham in the second tier will certainly be a step up for him and fans should be able to judge his potential for us far better come January, but a number of fans on social media felt that he could’ve done a job for us in midfield, especially with the expectation that Mario Lemina will now move abroad having failed to secure a move to a side further up the Premier League table on deadline day.
Ultimately it should be a good spell for him, and with Southampton maybe hedging their bets on Lemina here, should he move on, we could well simply recall Reed in the January window if needed.
Shame, genuinely thought he was a more mobile alternative to Romeu. We're short in DM espically with a disgruntled Lemina wanting to leave.

Like Sims, disappointed with this one. Made sense keeping him as a Lemina replacement. Thought he’d fit well in Ralphs system as well…

Would have assumed that we’d keep him as cover if/when Lemina leaves.
He looked decent in pre-season. Good luck to him though.

Such a shame. Had a good Pre-season and then gets sent out on loan, just like the last 3 years. Fulham is a step up on last years loan so hopefully will become a better player from it. Shame he won’t be with us this year

Shame, always felt he could do a job for us

Harrison Reed should have stayed very talented hard working and impressed in the first team mobile attacking option. Strange decision!!
