Following talks with Rudi Skacel, Saints’ Head Coach, Mark Wotte, has confirmed that the Czech defender is available for selection once again.

The 29-year-old had been ommitted from Wotte’s squads in recent weeks after asking for a transfer away from St Mary’s.

However, after any move failed to materialise during the January transfer window, Skacel has reassured Wotte that he is committed to the cause and willing to give his all to help the team.

Speaking to saintsfc.co.uk, Wotte said, “Rudi is available again. He’s told me he wants to play so I will select him if I need him.”

Wotte also praised Skacel for his contribution to the side, prior to asking for a move. “I know Jan was very happy with him, he showed his quality at left back, but he has competition with Lee Molyneux and Joseph Mills.”

Despite preferring to play as a left midfielder, Skacel has mainly been used at left back this season. However, with Lee Holmes facing a few more weeks on the sidelines with a troublesome knee injury, an opportunity may arise for Skacel to feature in his favoured position over the coming weeks.
