The Saints defender will once again be returning from his recurring injury which has affected his career for many years.

Southampton F.C did not renew his contract on the 30th June 2007; with the belief that the centre back will not feature for the team again.

The 32 year old Swede, made a remarkable comeback at the beginning of this season. Aided with medical treatment from Bayern Munich F.C, Svensson surprised everyone when he came back to the club he loved.

Svensson has made five appearances this season. His last was the Carling Cup defeat away to Rotherham, leaving Yorkshire having aggravated his Knee once again.

‘When Michael is there I think we have to play him,’ Saints boss Jan Poortvliet declared Svensson’s importance to the young Saints side.

‘But he will say to me I am ready, and then we will see. He thinks he is ready.’ The Saints boss added.

Svensson has been training with the first team for the last two weeks, and he had been confirmed fit for Saturday’s tough encounter with league leaders, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
