Saints keeper Paul Smith has today signed for League 1 side Nottingham Forest. He has signed a three year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The keeper, who showed great promise at the beginning of his time at Saints, has since fallen down the pecking order behind young Polish goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski and veteran stopper Kevin Miller.

Smith reflected upon his time at Saints by telling www.stellargroup.co.uk:-

‘I would like to thank everyone at Southampton for the
excellent times I had at the club and wish them all the best for
the future.’

He also told stellar group that he believed that Forest should be soon challenging for promotion back to the Premiership.

‘The club
has been in League One long enough now and we need to get back to
challenging for a place in the Premiership.’

Smith’s departure could signal a move by Saints for Everton Keeper Richard Wright after it was rumoured that Burley was keen on making a move for the former Ipswich man.
