Southampton and Northern Ireland midfielder Steven Davis celebrates six years to the day since he arrived at St Mary’s Stadium.
Six years as a Saint! 😇#OnThisDay in 2012, @StevenDavis8 joined #SaintsFC and what a servant he has proved to be: pic.twitter.com/5gDLmn4CNm

The now 33-year-old made the move from Scottish side Rangers on a free transfer back on July 6th 2012 and if we ignore the aberration that we all hope the season of 2017/18 was, he’s more than played his part in establishing us in the Premier League once again and we’ve even tasted a small European adventure which certainly didn’t appear to be on the cards a few years before he arrived.
With 183 starting appearances to his name, and a further 37 showings from the bench, he’s scored 14 goals from us as our midfield engine and whether he’s had the armband officially or not, he has become one of the leaders in the dressing room.
With a number of fans believing that summer arrival from Celtic, Stuart Armstrong, will eventually be his permanent replacement, there’s life in Davis yet and fans more than acknowledged that as the club sent out a classy tweet to recognise his 6th birthday as a Saint.

His double at WHL probably most memorable goals. Last team to win there.
