One of the small pieces of speculation that bubbled away during Thursday summer transfer window deadline day was a belief that relegated side Fulham were very interested in taking on Southampton Academy graduate Harrison Reed for the season.

Despite the deadline window closing at 5pm, the loan window remains open until the end of the month and within the last hour, Southampton have confirmed that the 24-year-old makes the switch to them for the remainder of their 2019/20 Championship campaign.

Fulham will be aiming to try and return to the top flight at the first time of asking and Reed will be hopeful for plenty of game time and to help them do just that as he builds on the 36 appearances (three goals) he made for Blackburn Rovers in the 2018/19 season.

He departs Staplewood once more with 30 appearances to his name for us, and if he can get a very good season under his belt in the second tier, he could well come into manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s thoughts for next season.

Reaction was certainly mixed on social media as you can see from clicking the above Tweet, as plenty were preoccupied with the speculation suggesting we had requested an extension to sign Kevin Danso, but thankfully some wished him well.
