Southampton Approach Liverpool Over Striker But We Won’t Line Their Pockets To Do A Deal

|

On Sunday it was being reported that Southampton had officially approached Liverpool over striker Danny Ings.

It’s long been speculated this summer than Ings was available for around the £20million mark as Jurgen Klopp sides with cutting their losses after his injury problems, and of course, Ings would no doubt just like better game time following his spells on the sidelines.

The Sun were one of a number to report that Mark Hughes was so keen on the 25-year-old that we had now gone in with an offer but, likely for only £10million, to see what kind of wriggle room Liverpool will have in getting our former youth graduate off their books and wage bill.

I know it’s the Sun, but with Liverpool signing him for a reported £6.5million back in 2015 from Burnley as it ticked through a tribunal process, £20million is steep given his injury problems, so £10million isn’t a bad opening offer in reality.
