Southampton Boost Fitness & Confidence With Friendly Win

|

With the March international break in full flow now, and with the Premier League fixture list being in a lull, Southampton arranged a behind closed doors friendly on Wednesday afternoon with Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

With manager Ralph Hasenhuttl still focused on the job in hand at St Mary’s, avoiding the drop in the campaign of 2018/19, he’d have been pleased with our efforts on the day as he continues to get his message across to the players.

21 players got match time under their belts across the 90 minutes and we took a 3-2 victory on the day as we welcomed Steve McClaren’s side to the Staplewood Campus.

Charlie Austin got on the score sheet in the opening 45 minutes to give us the lead going into the break, but QPR reacted strongly in the second half, levelling two minutes in. Sam Gallagher restored our advantage, but they again levelled. We took victory as Jake Vokins bagged the winner.
