Southampton centre-half Jan Bednarek has become the fourth player to secure his appearance at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Congratulations to #SaintsFC defender Jan Bednarek who has been named in the final @LaczyNasPilka squad for the #WorldCup finals! ????https://t.co/CyVdod5GtD

Bednarek was a small shining light for Southampton in 2017/18 as we flirted with our Premier League future and he has now been confirmed in Poland’s final 23 man squad for the tournament. Poland have been drawn in Group H where they will face Senegal, Colombia and Japan.
Before the finals get underway though, Poland have friendlies set against Chile and Lithuania to serve as warm-up games.
With the confirmation of Bednarek’s selection, it means that Southampton will now have four players involved in the World Cup as Maya Yoshida has been selected by Japan, Cedric by Portugal and Dusan Tadic by Serbia. Yoshida and Bednarek could face off against each other as their two countries meet in the group stage as both will be hoping to secure their qualification through to the knock-out rounds.

Been an interesting couple of months for our young defender. In April he capped his Premier League debut with a goal. In May he took the club’s Player of the Month award and now he’s heading to his first World Cup.
Bednarek’s stock amongst the fanbase continues to grow, so well done to that man!
Fair play to the lad, gave 100% when his opportunity came along ????????????????, good luck ????????????
