It’s being reported this morning that Southampton are keen on a deal for Lech Poznan youngster Jan Bednarek.

The 21 year old centre half is highly rated and will be featuring for Poland’s Under 21 side at this month’s European Under 21 Championships and the Daily Echo say we’ve already made a Euro 6million offer for him and are waiting to hear back, but should that be accepted, Bednarek would become the most expensive player in Polish top flight history.

It’s believed whilst they are tempted, they are in no rush to sell so this one could rumble on for a bit longer, especially as Lech Posnan would look to see his fee rise should he have a good tournament this month.

Securing a centre half with Martin Caceres moving on after his short term deal expired, and with continuing doubts over the future of Virgil van Dijk given all the speculation, clearly as you would expect Southampton are already looking down the line on this one.

They say that Bundesliga side Hannover recently had a Euro 2.5million offer rejected.
