Late yesterday evening, Southampton formally announced the capture of England goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The 26 year old former Celtic stopper joins us for an undisclosed fee – but rumoured to be in the region of £10million – and he has put pen to paper on a four year deal.

Forster began life at Newcastle United, taking in loan spells with Stockport County, Bristol Rovers and Norwich City before making the move north back in 2010.

During his time with Celtic he has won three league titles, and two Scottish Cups as well as gaining experience in the Champions League.

Speaking to saintsfc manager Ronald Koeman said of Forster.

‘Fraser is a very talented player and we are delighted to be able to bring him to Southampton. This is another important part of our rebuilding process ahead of the start of the season. The fact that he has worked with Dave Watson before means we already know about his strengths and weaknesses and I am confident that we will be able to help him improve further.’
