Southampton Eye 20 y/o International Midfielder – Reports

|

With Southampton’s Premier League future safe following the entertaining 3-0 draw with Bournemouth, despite the weekend’s disappointment against West Ham United, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl clearly has one eye on next season now.

With the Austrian making no secret of our return to the ‘Southampton Way’ when it comes to developing and nurturing our own talent and given youth a pathway through into the first team, he’s also been pretty up front on the fact that we will see further departures and some arrivals to strengthen the group over the summer months.

Reports in Belgium, via the Daily Echo have come up with a new name on the rumour mill this week, Standard Liege wide midfielder Moussa Djenepo.

The 20-year-old talent has made 37 appearances for his Belgian side so far this season, helping them to third place in the First Division A and along the way he’s contributed eleven goals to their cause.

The speculation suggests that we’ll be willing to launch a £20million bid for him, and he does boast international experience, having picked up eight caps for Mali.

His age and his stats certainly make this a plausible transfer rumour, but it remains to be seen if we do go in for him.
