It wasn’t the best of weekend’s for Southampton as manager Ralph Hasenhuttl saw his first team squad go down 3-0 to West Ham United – but obviously relegation was no longer a concern and the starting XI did see some changes – however, Saints fans could celebrate a barnstormer of a goal from our Under 23 side as they took victory over Aston Villa to book our place in the Premier League 2 Play-Off Final.

Having wrapped up our regular season with a 5-1 victory over Sunderland last Monday evening, we headed into Friday’s action with manager Radhi Jaidi confident of our chances. Will Smallbone scored from the spot early on in the game and we took a 2-0 victory as Tom O’Connor ensured victory with a wonderfully placed freekick.

With Southampton’s social media team known for their cheekiness, to celebrate the strike they cut in footage of Gary Lineker and Rio Ferdinand celebrating Lionel Messi’s freekick from the Champions League clash with Liverpool, and it’s fair to say, fans appreciated their efforts.
