Despite seeing his team lose at home to Swindon, Alan Pardew insists that his team still has a chance to make it to the playoffs.

Saints hopes of reaching the top six took a massive dent as they lost their first home game since November. The solitary goal was scored by Charlie Austin who is an ex Poole Town striker.

Alan Pardew was disappointed by the game after such a great day against Leeds United. Though he said that there would be a lot more of the good games to come.

‘We’ve had a really, really tough season in trying to build this team and get it together.’ He admitted ‘There was a bit of fatigue there. There was also significant pressure to get the win and we were rash at times with our deliveries from the back.’

‘We’ve got some good players here and we know we’ve got a good team. We’ve got to make sure we finish well and try to win every game until the end of the season.’

Saints at no time looked comfortable against Swindon who came with a game plan and fully deserved the win. Worse still we ran out of ideas as the game dragged on. At no time did we look capable of getting back into the game as we huffed and puffed. In fact Swindon could and should have scored at least one more as we grew more disconcerted.

I believe that we still need at least two players, maybe three to be the force of the division next season. It also looks as though AP will need to realign his thoughts as to how often some of our players can play in a week.
