Over the weekend Southampton confirmed that Guido Carrillo had headed out of St Mary’s Stadium having agreed a loan spell with CD Leganes.

The 27-year-old makes the switch to the Spanish side for the entire 2018/19 campaign and then either we’ll benefit from him hopefully getting a boost in confidence so we can see what he can actually do on the pitch, or his stock will rise and we’ve got more chance of recouping close to the £19million we paid Monaco for his services back in the January 2018 window.
Having been targetted by former manager Mauricio Pellegrino he made seven starting appearances and three showings from the bench but he failed to find the target once.
He again links up with Pellegrino as he now manages at CD Leganes.
It was an unfortunate move for all in reality, I doubt Carrillo is as bad as what we saw as he came in under pressure given our league positioning and he didn’t have time to settle and adjust. On the flipside, when you pay £19million for somebody you expect them to show more than he did and settle quicker. Fans will be fans though but most I expect will be forgiving – and more quickly forgiving if he now shows what he can do and we increase our chances of selling him!
Most of the anger is directed at the Board rather than the player it’s fair to say.
Ha!

Tbf, he did no real less/more than the other forwards when he played. The whole team were shit in that period, zero confidence = 0 points every time. He was a Saint so with respect, all best with his career & hopefully bag 20+ goals so we get our money back ????????⚪️

Whoever sanctioned the spending of 19m on him should follow straight after. A disgusting waste of money. #SaintsFC

Not the players fault but whoever on the board agreed to this is a disgrace.

People know the money isn't gone right? Loan fee comes in and if he does well there his value will go up. Daft to sell him at a loss right now. He's not half as bad as people are making out.
