Speculation is rife that we have secured the transfer of Liverpool striker Danny Ings on deadline day.

Sky Sports are reporting that they understand Southampton have successfully requested a deal extension window to get the move completed ahead of the 7pm final window.

It’s said that the deal is a season-long loan spell as opposed to a permanent transfer for the 26-year-old and with the deal sheet in before the deadline closed, the likelihood is that final confirmation will be with fans within the next hour or so as Mark Hughes gets the man we’ve been linked with all summer long.

With Liverpool reportedly holding out for £20million to do a permanent deal, a loan makes far more sense especially as the player needs to show his fitness and form following the injuries that have plagued him in recent years.

Might have been a slightly more hectic day than many imagined a few hours ago in fairness.
