It’s been a pretty common occurrence in recent years that Southampton fans have been annoyed with Liverpool as they keep signing our players who have performed extremely admirably for the club.

Dejan Lovren, Adama Lallana, Rickie Lambert, and most recently Virgil van Dijk to name just four. Of course, studious fans will know there were a couple more but if I list the lot I’ll probably never finish this babble and log off annoyed.

The move by the club to sign Danny Ings on loan with a view to a permanent deal over the summer’s transfer window did buck the trend in a small way and giving Ings a fresh start to his career following his lengthy time out injured has gone well as he’s been impressive and one of our best performers.

He is our top scorer to boot with four in the Premier League and whilst there were some Liverpool fans who weren’t happy at seeing him leave, his performances for us – especially being our stand out against Manchester City – has doubled down those thoughts.

Ings is only one goal behind Mohamed Salah in the top-flight if I have my numbers right and Salah has played one more game, and whilst Southampton have little to shout about in 2018/19 once again I’m milking this for everything I can!
