Alan Pardew admits that the game against FC Thun may have come a little early for his squad.

Training hard three times a day has left the players tired he admitted after the defeat at the hands of the Swiss Top-flight outfit.

He also felt that the players, who were already tired from the morning training session, were feeling the effect of playing in such hot sunny conditions.

With Adam Lallana unable to play due to a knee injury, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain played the full 90 minutes. He seems to be progressing nicely, and could well play more of a part this season.

Alan Pardew was apparently well pleased with the youngster’s positivity. He said that Alex did some good things but that he is still young and growing into his body. Meaning that as he grows stronger he will continue to improve.

It was admitted that with a stronger team in the second half we showed more of our strength as a unit.

The younger fringe certainly had a real eye opener according to the manager, as he looked back on their performances.

Though he conceded that if the younger fringe players keep improving enough they will soon be pushing for a place in the team.

Maybe just maybe we could have another Bale or Walcott about to show us what we have. That thought is one that brings a smile of real anticipation.
