Southampton have been linked with another move for an attacker during the summer transfer window and speculation on the rumour mill suggested that we’d already put a bid in for Troyes versatile player, Bryan Mbeumo.
The news had gone quiet at the end of last month with Danny Ings and Che Adams taking over, but this weekend the 19-year-old is back amongst the headlines. Even though Troyes are a French Ligue 2 team, in 39 matches he scored 11 goals and capable of operating on either flank, you can see why he’d tick the boxes for manager Ralph Hasenhuttl as he continues to rebuild the club to suit his plan.
French outlet L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) reported recently that we are now competing with Borussia Monchengladbach for him, although we haven’t offered the 8million Euros they did.
Additional offers from Montpellier and Strasbourg have been rejected for being too low.
Cutting a long story short, the suggestion is Mbeumo likes the German proposal so we will need to match their bid quickly to give the young lad a proper decision to make.
