It’s been reported this week that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is continuing his more youthful outlook and could make a move for Lincoln City youngster Ellis Chapman.

The highly rated 18-year-old midfielder has made eight starting appearances for Lincoln, with a further six showings from the substitutes bench but he did head to Chesterfield late on in the January transfer window for a greater run of games – making 14 showings in total (13 starts).

Outlet Lincolnshire Live have reported this week that we have joined Derby County in keeping tabs on the youngster and we could be looking to add him to our youth setup over the summer.

The youngster’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season but there’s not really any bones on this particular piece of speculation, it’s just a usual ‘understands’ type of report without a named or unnamed source to add any flesh and real information.

With us returning to a more Southampton Way approach though, it can’t be ruled out if he has been impressing people this year.
