Southampton Need A Right Back?

Graeme Murty is out long term and possibly about to retire. Wayne Thomas now out injured and probably for the rest of the season. Jon Otsemobor out and hopefully not for much longer, but not likely to be ready in time for the game tonight or Wembley. Lastly Lloyd James who has an ongoing problem which may well need surgery. Though he is 50/50 to play.

I think you can safely say that our options are limited. How close our regular reserve right back is to getting a call I have no idea. Michael Antonio is still out and Jason Punchein is cup-tied.

Alan Pardew has admitted to toying with the idea of bringing a player in for the short term. He is concerned with the possible effect this will have on the squad but has said that his main priority is the club.

‘Our whole right side is weak. It is a little concern, I don’t think it’s fair on the squad to bring anyone in, but I still have to do what I feel is right for Southampton. If I feel that I have to bring someone in then I will do that,’ he said to the Saints Player.
