Next season as we all know by know, the kit will go back in time to be in a style similar to that which we wore when starting out as Southampton St Mary’s.

Saints OS has been talking to the players and they have given a unanimous thumbs up for it. As it says on the OS it is a kit from yesteryear for the team of tomorrow.

Rickie Lambert our leading goal scorer from last season is looking forward to the kick-off in the new strip.

‘I really, really like it, I wasn’t too sure about the black socks at first, but I think it’s a fitting way to celebrate our anniversary and I’m looking forward to wearing it.’

Midfielder Paul Wotton is also a fan, and thinks that it will help still further, the build up to the new season as it draws ever closer.

‘It looks smart,’ the midfielder said as he explained how he loved white kits anyway. ‘It will help us stand out and it has no sponsor which is a nice way to celebrate the 125th year and I’m sure it will sell well too.’

Paul went on to say to the OS how there are high expectations all round for next season. He said the start of a new season is always exciting and this is year is no different.

The new strip for the goalkeepers is also going back in time. The keepers colour has gone back to a more classic shade of green which meets with Kelvin Davis’ approval.

‘The traditional style of it is great, and for us to still be alive and kicking after some end of season fiascos means that it’s great to be in this position,’ the Club Captain explained.

Overall the mood of those questioned by the OS is one of real pleasure, and delight that it is so pleasing on the eye.

As Club Captain Kelvin Davis says, ‘Being without a sponsor and everything that’s going along with the celebrations for the 125th year, shows the position that we’re in now and I’m sure it’s going to be a proud season.’

As a Saints fan I have this feeling that we will all be wearing the white very, very soon. Not only that, but we are also about to have a season which we will live with us for as long as we live.
