Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic has said that the players should be ashamed of their performances so far in 2017/18.

A three nil defeat to West Ham United last weekend leaves the Saints third from bottom in the Premier League table and we are now two points from safety with Arsenal next up in the fixture list.

Speaking to Sky Sports this week to reflect on the match, the Serbian international explained.

‘We should be ashamed that we are in this kind of situation. We still have seven games to go and we need to try to get out of this situation, it doesn’t matter how, we need to do something. The first thing is we need to fight together and try to win matches, this is most important. It doesn’t matter how, we need to find solutions to win games.’

With Mark Hughes replacing Mauricio Pellegrino last month, Tadic did go on to say that he felt the Welshman was the right man for the job and he praised him for adding ‘energy’ to the training sessions, stating that given training in the build up to the game had gone so well, he was doubly disappointed at the final result on the day as the players had simply let the game get away from them.

For whatever reason the players have let the season get away from them and Tadic is far from alone in poor form having only found the net four times in 33 appearances. With only seven games remaining in the campaign though they simply have to click now as whilst that game in hand on Crystal Palace is there, survival is in our own hands.

Arsenal won’t roll over though.

KRAZYB has his own challenge for Tadic.

It may be much too late but at least he has spoken up about recent performances. Our team has not been producing even the smallest glimpse of fight. This admission may have come too late but we can still hope. Tadic is one of our most talented players but he disappears far too often and is not up to a fight from what I have seen so far. I would love to see him actually prove me wrong and show both fight and desire and utilise his undoubted talent.

  • Very good article. It would be nice if Dusan turned up at Arsenal and showed us just how much talent he has. Thanks to Mitch for his kind words.

  • He has the chance to prove it, fans can only hope as we all know what he’s capable of – as we do the team in general. Nice words from the Hammers fan and they’ve obviously got their own problems at the moment.

  • We have had a few speeches from various players recently but still we are seeing the same tired old rubbish. Time for them to shut their mouths and actually do it on the pitch. We don’t need words but do demand more action.
