Alan told the Saints OS that the result was reward for the endeavour and togetherness that the squad has shown since the start of the season.

He felt that Saints were fairly comfortable throughout the game and that is not something that happens often at any level of the game.

The win will have taken a lot of the pressure off and he is hopeful that a good win at home on Saturday will be forthcoming.

Ironically he felt that Lee Barnard had his worst game so far this season though he was always beavering away and is important to the shape of the team. The goal will have given him a big boost as well he said.

The partnership with Rickie is shaping well and David Connolly is still pushing them hard so they have to keep producing.

Talking about new signing Guly Alan said that though he was caught in possession the first time he received the ball he quickly tuned in and looked perfectly suited to our game.

Alan stressed how important the first goal was as it came from a set play. We have been practising set plays all week h said as we were so poor at them in the last game.

He also took the time to praise the fans who he thought were superb. With the results that we have had I was pleased for them and by them.

Only downside was the injury to Adam Lallana. It is still his knee and it doesn’t bode well Alan reported. Adam has been restricted all year by his knee so we will have to try to sort him out this week.

Myself, I am not as concerned as I would have been a while back as I feel we have some good cover now so we will have to wait and see what action will be needed.
