Having Beaten Norwich at Carrow Road and then Caning Huddersfield at St Mary’s, Dan feels that the defeat of Leeds emphasises the strengths of the team.On their day Saints are almost unplayable.

But the inconsistencies such as the draws at Exeter and Wycombe, who are both in the relegation zone, and the defeat at Tranmere have shown that they are not yet the finished article.

The main problem has been when playing teams that a promotion hunting side would expect to beat. The incosistent manner in which we play has to be eradicated. We have to be able to perform well against the lesser teams just as we do against the better.

The left back said after the game, ‘We set out to show everyone what a good team we are and hopefully we have done that. We have shown that we can beat the best in the league, now we have to show we can do it week in week out.’

‘We have another game on Tuesday to prove that and hopefully get another three points and another good performance. We wanted to put the disappointment of last week behind us and we did. We showed both sides of our game aginst Leeds.’

He went on to say how pleasing it was, to see how hard the creative players worked when the team had to dig in. ‘It’s pleasing as a back five that they can do that,’ he added.

The team now has to show that it can perform week in week out. That it is prepared to fight for the right to play when necessary.
