Saints have now agreed a terms with the Brentford left back Ryan Dickson on a three year deal.

The fee will be set by tribunal as Brentford and the Saints could not agree a price. The club feels that it made a fair offer and are happy that the player is now ours.

Ryan was impressed by our chairman and the manager when he met them. He said that nicola Cortese was open and gave a good deal of detail with regard to his aspirations.

Alan Pardew also made him feel welcome as he outlined the plans that were being made. ryan was told about the team and the players that we have in good detail.

As he said himself on the OS, ‘Everything is being put in place here to take the club to the highest level so it wasn’t a difficult decision to make.’

The 23 year old will already be known to the Saints faithful. He was the player that tore through our defence, beating four players before setting up the equaliser for Brentford back in August 2009.

Dickson already knows two players. Paul Wotton was captain at Plymouth when he began there and Dan Seaborne who he knew as a 16yo as they started out on their careers.

Ryan emphasised how he fully intended to make the left back slot his which is good for the club. Having two or three good players fighting for the same position in a team can only keep them on their toes.

This is our first signing of the summer. An attacking left back who has already shown how good he can become. A player both for now and the future.

A good signing in every way and someone who will improve the team. This can only be good news for us.

The club did ask for us the fans to remember that all news of signings etcetera would show first on the Saints own site. Rumours are just that and until we say something no rumour is fact.

They went on to say that clear targets have been identified with the intention of strengthening the side and the people in charge are doing everything in their power to achieve their aims.

This morning I feel a lot happier. A quality addition to our squad with the club saying that more are to follow.
