Southampton Slip Up At Goodison Park

Southampton travelled up to Goodison Park to face Everton in today’s Premier League clash.

A bright start from the hosts saw them take a 2-0 advantage going into the halftime break as Theo Walcott and Richarlison found the back of the net. Southampton did attempt to make more of a game of it in the second half, and Danny Ings opened his account for the year following his arrival from Liverpool on loan and he halved the deficit in the 54th minute.

That was where the scoring ended though and Southampton fell to a 2-1 defeat.

Prior to his goal Ings had been lively and forced Jordan Pickford into a good save, so Mark Hughes will have positives he can take from the match and we certainly finished strongly as we looked for the leveller, but a poor start to the game in the first half ultimately cost us.

We look to the next match now hoping to get off the mark properly this year and secure that first win.
